Start your evening by meeting a professional guide at the John C. Calhoun monument in Marion Square. During your 90-minute tour, you will be engaged with riveting and haunting tales about the "Holy City" from the 2004 popular book, 'Haunted Charleston' by Ed Macy and Geordie Buxton. View up close what 'Huffington Post' calls "The Most Haunted Hotel in the South," which is a renovated citadel arsenal built in response to an alleged slave uprising and once home to the men who shot the first shots of the War Between the States. Also, in Marion Square are the remnants of a 100 yard tabby rock wall from the 42-day American Revolutionary War battle between 16,000 British and American men in 1780.

At a College of Charleston dorm, you will come "face-to-face" with a group of orphans from the ca. 1790 Charleston Orphan House. Look up for an angelic spirit in an 18th century 'Brown Fellowship cemetery and visit the oldest black congregation in the South, where the Denmark Vesey and an alleged slave uprising in 1822 was plotted. See the headstone of Elizabeth Jackson, the mother of President Andrew Jackson, and learn about her botched exhumation. You'll also visit the city boundary line where public hangings took place throughout three centuries until July of 1911 before a Category 3 hurricane known as "Duncan's Storm" washed away the gory site and brutal practice.

The tour concludes within a few blocks (approximately a five minute walk) of Marion Square. All ages are welcome, but beware -- this is not for the faint of heart!
