Description

This 2-hour walk, which takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, has been curated by a professional guide and incorporates some of Historic Charleston's most visually appealing elements. The small group tour begins on East Bay Street just north of the Provost Dungeon, and proceeds to explore the streets of Charleston's most beautiful and historic neighborhoods. Notable sights include Rainbow Row, the fountains and gardens of Tradd Street, and the grandiose mansions along East Battery, where views look out toward the water. You'll also stroll the passageways of quaint and quiet Stoll's Alley, and see why this route is considered one of Charleston's most beautiful walks.

This walking tour starts at 10am on the North side of the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. From there the tour will proceed to see many sites in the heart of Charleston's Historic District including, but not limited to: the remnants of the original walls which defined the Old Walled City; the picturesque pastel houses which make up Rainbow Row; charming Tradd Street; spectacular East Battery Street and its views of Charleston harbor and many elegant mansions; beautiful White Point Gardens; the Villa Margherita; Lower Church Street; the Thomas Rose House with the whistling ghost of Dr. Joseph Brown Ladd; the Dubose Heyward house and Catfish Row, and the Heyward – Washington House where George Washington once slept!

This tour takes place on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, involves a moderate amount of walking, and finishes back at the same place where you met your guide in the morning.
